Reclaiming Childhood: Interrupting a Screen Based Childhood by Increasing Independence and Free Play

An interactive workshop for parents to help foster resilience and decrease anxiety in children. This workshops looks at relevant research around the increase of anxiety and depression in children in teens in relation to screen based childhoods. Independence and ample opportunities for free play have been demonstrated protective factors. This workshop gives parents the opportunity to learn how to foster both independence and free play while also decreasing screen time. The Reclaiming Childhood is being offered at the Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor, Maine.
